The resurgence of the leather micro mini skirt is a result of the McBling trend that was popular from 2003 to 2008. Saint Sintra, a new design house in San Francisco, was inspired by an exhibition of Mary Quant, the original mini skirt designer of the 1960s. The designer also cites inspiration from Spongebob's attire, which he uses to focus on belted pleated minis and frosted tutu styles.
